Rosedale, originally called “The Town of Rosedale, Shawnee Township” had a population of 600 in 1875, and was known as the “City of the Third Class” in Kansas. Subsequently, the name was changed successfully in 1877.

The Rosedale Arch

The Rosedale Arch is an important part of the district worth a visit. It was built in honor of the men of Rosedale who served in World War I. The construction was Inspired by the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, and designed by John LeRoy Marshall, a Rosedale resident.
